Welcome to St. Stephen Lutheran Church
Who We Are ...
It is our prayer that all who visits this site may be comforted by the love of God as demonstrated in His only begotten Son Jesus. The purpose of St. Stephen Lutheran Church is to carry out the great commission of our Lord – to make disciples of all nations through baptism and teaching the Word of God (Matthew 28:18-20 )
St. Stephen is a traditional Lutheran Church where the message of conservative, orthodox and confessional Lutheranism can be found. We are a member of the Church of the Lutheran Confession (CLC) and in North America this Lutheran synod has approximately 6400 souls in 76 congregations. We also have affiliate church bodies in 13 foreign countries including India, Nepal, Myanmar, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Republic of Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana and Togo. In addition we are exploring new contacts in Liberia, Haiti, Japan, Italy, Australia and Argentina. Immanuel Lutheran College located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin is our school for preparing pastors and teachers.
What We Believe …
We are a congregation of sinners, rejoicing in the forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ, God’s own Son. We believe that Jesus is the only means by which we might inherit eternal life. We believe that only by His atoning sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the dead are we reconciled to God (cf. John14.6; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21).
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God without error or contradiction and that the doctrines found in the Book of Concord (1580) properly reflect the truths taught in scripture. We subscribe to the Brief Statement of 1932 and the CLC Statement of Faith and Purpose as confessions of our faith.
